What a waste of this good season,

And a waste for no good reason,

No September to remember, just a month we should forget.

What happened to these M's of ours,

As now we're left to tend our scars,

Inflicted yet again, by the wins we could not get.

Our play - it went from good to bad,

With Gillick, we had all been had,

He failed in his quest to make a big move once again,

The Yankees, "they out-bid us"

But I must protest: THEY KID US,

The Mariners have the money if they really want to win.

Then he shipped off Jeff for having balls,

And the only thing we hit were walls,

We drifted out of first and lost the wild card as well.

We're out again, and it's not right,

The race was hardly even tight,

We crawled into a hand-basket and we rode it straight to hell.

The money's THERE!  So use it,

It's not right that we should lose it,

When we play hard all year long and watch it quickly fall to pieces.

The foundation here is strong,

And not building on it's wrong,

And it won't get better until this do-nothing bullshit ceases.

And now the same old story,

No title or post-season glory,

And I'm angry as we know it didn't have to be this way,

And I know there's always next year,

But will Edgar play again here?

Or will he put that mighty bat down and quietly call it a day?

Will we fail him as we failed Jay,

To get a ring, go all the way?

It really isn't right after all he's done for us.

Thanks for reading, and until next spring...

We'll see what winter here will bring,

And hope 2004 won't end up like this bust.
