So this game began with a 2 out single from Bret followed by a walk to Edgar that we are unable to do anything with and then the Royals are down in order so off we go to the second, where with 1 out, Randy "I'm Goin Yard!" Winn WENT YARD to put us up 1-0 and then Dan Wilson ripped a big nasty double but we settle for the 1 run and head to the bottom half where Kansas City is down in order again.
So third inning and with 1 out, Bret walked but that's as exciting as it gets and then KC is down in order for the third time and sadly enough the game doesn't end right there and off we go to the fourth where we're down in order this time and Aaron Guiel leads off with a single and 2 outs later, Raul Ibanez singled but they don't score and sadly enough, the game doesn't end right there either.
Fifth inning. We're down 1-2-3. Michael Tucker leads off with a walk, and then an out later, Brent Mayne doubled which scored Tucker and tied the game and made me swear and we head to the sixth inning 1-all where we waste Edgar's 1 out walk and then Desi Relaford, the traitorous cad, led off with a double and then Carlos Beltran reached on a bunt single, and with runners at the corners, Raul hit into a double play which scored Desi and they take the lead 2-1.
So seventh inning and we sit down in order and then... the bottom half is a big old mess and Julio Mateo relieved Gil Meche in the middle of it and it isn't over until it's 5-1 Kansas City and I have had to be sedated due to the angst it has caused me.
Eighth inning. With 1 out, Mike Cameron walked and went to second on a wild pitch from Darrell May and we aren't able to do anything and then Raul singled and Jeff Nelson relieved Mateo and got Ken Harvey to ground into a double play and then he struck out Tucker and off we go to the ninth where Curt Leskanic relieved May and with 1 out, John Olerud walked but we don't score him or anyone else which sucked so very, very much.
