This Is Much More Like It

So I'm happy to say that my blood pressure has returned to normal after last evening's debacle, and this game began as Mom and I were leaving to see 'Bruce Almighty' which was funny although not as funny as one might expect, and Ichiro led off with a big nasty double about the time as I was swearing at this stupid white Honda in front of me who had confused the shoulder with the road, like DRIVE IN THE GODDAMN LANE and anyway, Mark McLemore walked, and then Bret singled which scored Ichiro and Mac ended up at third and Bret ended up at second on an error and then John Olerud hit a sac fly to score Mac and we take a 2-0 lead to the bottom of the first where Joel Pineiro tried to kill me by allowing San Diego to tie it and I could tell you HOW they tied it but I don't want to because I hate them, stupid 5-runs-scoring-in-the-bottom-of-the-ninth-inning-bastards that they are.

So second inning, 2-all, and Ben Davis ripped a big nasty double to lead things off, and then Jeff Cirillo singled and then Joel hit into a fielder's choice since pitchers hit in the National League even though NOBODY WANTS TO SEE THEM DO THAT and Ben ended up out at home, and Joel and Cirillo ended up on second and third and then Ichiro was intentionally walked because San Diego is chickenshit and then Mac walked which forced in a run and an out later and John Olerud walked which forced in another run and we lead it 4-2 as we head to the bottom half where with 2 outs, some Eaton guy singled but that's all they manage, and I hesitate to count their single since Eaton is the pitcher and shouldn't be hitting anyway.

So third inning and I imagine around this time Mom and I are making fun of all the losers who have to cluster in around you at the movies, like go sit somewhere else when there are 500 empty seats and there is NO REASON that you need to sit right next to or in front of me you nimrod and PS, get here ON TIME, this means BEFORE THE PREVIEWS START and then you won't have to block my view or trip down the aisles in the dark and anyway, with 1 out, Ben ripped another big nasty double and then Cirillo singled but we are unable to score them and then San Diego doesn't fair any better wasting a 2 out single by my nemesis, Rondell White.

Fourth inning and we're down in order and some Nady guy leads off with a walk for San Diego and then somebody grounded him over to second but that's as exciting as it got, so fifth inning and with 2 outs, Ben doubled AGAIN!

So then Cirillo was intentionally walked because as I mentioned earlier, San Diego is chickenshit, but unfortunately this pays off for them as Joel struck out, so moving right along, Joel retaliated by sitting their dumb butts down in order.

Sixth inning and some Linebrink guy relieved Eaton and with 1 out, Mac walked again but we can't get anything going, and neither can San Diego who sits down in order again, so let's just keep going to the seventh where John Olerud led off with a single and an out later was out at second on a fielder's choice by Randy Winn, and then Randy stole second but sadly we don't score him and then San Diego is down in order AGAIN which is just how I like them.

Eighth inning and some guy named Hackman is in to pitch for the Padres and evidently John Mabry is back from the DL which makes me very happy and anyway, with 2 outs, Ichiro singled and that's pretty much all I have to say about our half of the eighth inning, and then Arthur Rhodes comes in and after a lead off walk to Mark Kotsay, settled down and retired the rest of the side in order.

So ninth inning and we waste Mike Cameron's single and then with 1 out, Shiggy came in to get the next two guys and earn a save and we win it 4-2 which makes me very, very happy.
