Game 1

Since yesterday's game was rained out, we have a doubleheader today and we wasted no time getting back on track with Ichiro singling and then stealing second and then Mark McLemore walked and Ichiro stole third and then Bret ripped a big nasty double and scored Ichiro and moved Mac to third, and then John Olerud hit into a fielder's choice which scored Mac and Bret was out at third and I'm not really sure what happened there because I was still sound asleep (stupid early morning games) and then an out later and Randy Winn singled and then Jeff Cirillo doubled which scored Ole and then Ben Davis was intentionally walked to get to Freddy Garcia who SINGLED and scored Randy and then Jeff was thrown out at home only the replay would later show he was safe.  Bastard umps.

So it's 4-0 Seattle as we head to the bottom half where Freddy retired the side in order and then Ichiro singled and then Mac singled and then a double play later and Ichiro was at third and then John Olerud walked and then Mike Cameron singled which scored Ichiro and then Randy doubled which scored Ole and then Cam scored on a wild pitch from Al Leiter and then Randy scored on ANOTHER wild pitch before we head to the bottom half of the second where with 2 outs, Freddy hit Jason Phillips with a pitch and then Vance Wilson singled but Freddy struck out Joe McEwing to end the inning and I wake up about this time and turn on the TV and shriek "8-0 Seattle after 2 innings?!  I can't believe I slept through THAT!  GODDAMMIT!"

So third inning, and Jeremy Griffiths is in for Leiter, and we're down in order and then the Mets don't fare much better wasting a 2 out single from Ty Wigginton, so moving right along to the fourth, Mac led off with a single and then Bret singled and then Ole walked and then Cam singled which scored Mac and Ole and then an out later and Cirillo walked and then Ben singled which scored Ole and Cam and it's 12-0 as we head to the bottom half where Cliff Floyd lead off with a homerun and that stupid big apple flashed but it's okay because 2 fly outs, a walk to Vance Wilson and another fly out later, it's still only 12-1 Seattle.

So fifth inning and with 2 outs, Willie Bloomquist came in to hit for Bret and reached on an infield single but that was about as exciting as things got and then the Mets were retired in order thanks to a magnificent diving catch from Bloomie who lost his glasses in the process and didn't even realize it which was kind of funny and then Mike Cameron led off with a walk in the sixth, but a double play and a fly out later and we're down 1-2-3, as are the Mets once again.

Seventh inning and with 2 outs, Ichiro singled and then Mac walked but we don't score any more and when we come back from commercial, there's the Mets' mascot, Bigass Baseball Head Guy, and then the announcers are talking about how Roger Clemens was denied his 300th win yet again, as if anybody for one second really gives a good goddamn, I mean I don't even know why Clemens is allowed to play AT ALL after chucking a BAT at Mike Piazza a couple years ago during the World Series, but at least it wasn't a CORKED bat, which I mention only because the announcers are now talking about how Sammy Sosa is appealing his weak 8-game suspension for cheating and I have to say that if he gets an even LIGHTER sentence at this point that I will be even MORE horrified and appalled that he's not banned than I already am which I didn't think was even possible and the Mets waste a lead off single from Phillips.

So eighth inning and Mike Stanton comes in to pitch for Griffiths and we're down in order and then with 2 outs, Roberto Alomar doubled and then Raul Gonzalez singled, but they're unable to score them and off we go to the ninth where John Franco relieved Stanton and with 1 out, Ben ripped this big nasty double and then Freddy grounded him over to third and then Ichiro "reached" on an infield single and on the replay it looked like he was out, but I guess that's payback for when they doinked the call on Cirillo at the plate and Ben scores and it's 13-1 Seattle as we head to the bottom half, where Freddy completes the game by retiring the side in order and all I can say is WELCOME BACK FREDDY GARCIA, OH HOW WE HAVE MISSED YOU.

Game 2

"Obviously, going on the longest trip of the season, we were a little concerned, but everyone played their butt off. I can't say enough about the way we played.
Everyone contributed." -
Bob Melvin

So game 2 begins with Ichiro reaching on a bunt single, and as Bob Melvin would say, "Ichiro, it all starts with him.  He did it to them again," and then Carlos Guillen ripped a big nasty double which scored him and then Bret grounded Carlos over to third and then Mike Cameron singled which scored Carlos and we lead it 2-0 as we head to the bottom half where Jamie Moyer retired the side in order in true Jamie Moyer fashion.

So second inning, and with 2 outs, Willie Bloomquist singled and then Jamie Moyer singled and I burst out laughing and Bloomie ended up on third and then Ichiro singled which scored him and we lead it 3-0 as we head to the bottom half where Cliff Floyd led off with a ground rule double but third base is as far as they can get him.

So third inning and everybody's down in order and moving right along to the fourth, you know, actually, let me just say:  both the fourth and fifth inning, we don't score and Jamie continues to make the Mets look silly.  I really can't sum it up any better than that.

"I've seen [Moyer] do it dozens of times.  He changes speeds so well. He's a master at it. He just pitches around the edges." - Art Howe, New York Mets manager

So sixth inning, and Greg Colbrunn leads off with a single and then Randy doubled and then Dan Wilson singled which scored Greg and Randy both and then some guy named Graeme Lloyd comes in to pitch for Mike Bacsik and we don't score any more and head to the bottom half where Jamie yields nothing more than a harmless 1 out walk to Tsuyoshi Shinjo.

So seventh inning and nothing much exciting happens for anybody, and just ditto that for the eighth when Shiggy relieved Jamie and didn't let the Mets score either.

So we're still leading 5-0 and let's just keep going right to the ninth, where some guy named Pedro Feliciano comes in to pitch for Lloyd and Bloomie led off with a walk, and then Edgar came in to hit for Shiggy and singled and then Pat Borders ran for Gar and 2 outs later, Bret singled which scored Bloomie and then Cam reached on an error which scored another run and it's 7-0 Seattle as we head to the ninth where Jeff Nelson came in and retired the side in order to complete our road trip with a rather outstanding record of 11-1.

"This is our longest trip of the year. This result is not a small result." - Ichiro
