So this game began at 11 a.m. while I was at work and I rebroadcast the whole thing in little bits and pieces for my friend HB, whether he liked it or not, and I announce how Bret went yard in the first inning and it was quickly 1-0 Seattle and then Kansas City was down in order and I am meanwhile chattering away about tornadoes because whenever we're playing in the Midwest I pretty much get fixated on the whole tornado thing and so I ask him if he's ever been in one and he's all "yes" and I ask him how big of a tornado it was and he wasn't sure because he was actually IN THE TORNADO, it picked up their car and flung them around before tossing them in a ditch and I just sat there at my desk with my mouth hanging open for a full minute. Possibly two.
So anyway, Mike Cameron led off with a double and then Greg Colbrunn grounded him over to third and then Randy Winn was hit by a pitch and I guess nobody started a fight over this and then Jeff Cirillo singled which scored Mike and then Randy stole third and then Dan Wilson doubled which scored both Randy and Jeff and I am announcing all of this to HB who doesn't seem all that impressed, football fan that he is.
So 4-0 Seattle, and nothing much happened in the bottom of the second unless you count Ken Harvey being safe on an error at one point, so off to the third we go and with 2 outs, Mike Cameron walked but we surprisingly enough don't score him and then Mike DiFelice singled to lead things off for Kansas City which I bitched about to HB but an out and a doubleplay later, there was no harm done.
So the fourth inning was very uneventful save for a big nasty double ripped by Dan Wilson, and Kansas City didn't fair any better even though Mike Sweeney and Carlos Beltran both coaxed a walk out of the Magnificent Mr. Moyer, so let us just move along to the fifth inning where Carlos Guillen reached on an infield single to lead things off and then, um. Yeah, nevermind. So bottom of the fifth and with 1 out, DiFelice doubled and I announce to HB that DiFelice should get a picture with a Royals hat on instead of the picture he currently has where he's sporting a Cardinals hat because it's super annoying but not nearly as annoying as Angel Berroa doubling right after that to score him and we head to the sixth inning leading 4-1.
So with 1 out, Colbrunn singled and then he was out at second on a fielder's choice by Randy Winn but then Randy STOLE second and Cirillo walked and then Dan singled which scored Randy and we lead it 5-1, but Mike Sweeney homered for KC to lead things off for them and it ends up being 5-2 before we get to the seventh.
So pitching change, we're down in order, blah blah blah, John Olerud comes in to play first for Colbrunn and KC is down in order and off we go to the eighth and he wouldn't say so, but I'm fairly certain HB was looking forward to the end of my broadcasting and we're down in order again and then Jeff Nelson comes in for Jamie Moyer and gives up a lead off single to Brent Abernathy but then he erases it nicely with a strikeout and a double play.
Ninth inning! Another pitching change for the Royals! We do nothing! Enter Kazuhiro Sasaki who gives up a harmless 1-out walk to Carlos Beltran before picking up a save for himself and a win for Jamie, both of which count for ME in my Fantasy Baseball League AND we just had a nice little 2 game sweep there.
