So this depressing event began with Mike Mussina striking out the side which royally bit and then New York doesn't fair any better despite a lead off walk for Soriano, because it was followed by a double play and then a groundout by Jason Giambi, which is what happens to sellouts.

So second inning and I am now on my way home from work since I stayed late again and I think there ought to be a required course called "Merging - It's Not That Hard" for anyone who can't figure out onramps and does not use proper freeway etiquette and anyway, second inning, change the names and repeat the first inning exactly, replacing the walk with an infield single.

Third inning and I'm sorry I don't have much to add to this but I'm dealing with people who can't grasp the concept of turn signals so I don't have a whole lot to work with here and anyway, 1-2-3 for us, 1-harmless single-2-3 for the Steinbrenner Monkeys.

Fourth inning.  Ichiro singled.  I'd shout hooray but I'm unaware of this as I've stopped at my Mom's school to see The Nephews before they go with their father for the next 2 nights and Dylan is playing on the playground with all of his friends and Casey is hanging out in my Mom's office playing with all of his toys and I talk Casey into a game of "Hug Your Auntie", which involves me shouting "STAND UP HUG YOUR AUNT SIT DOWN!" repeatedly which he surprisingly enough goes for and it gets us both totally cracking up and I pat myself on the back for my cleverness in getting a bunch of hugs because at 2 and a half, he's just starting to get to that age where sometimes he'll hug you and sometimes he will be like 'don't trifle with me'.

So we do nothing at all and Giambi singles for New York, but who cares?  Not me.  So fifth inning and with 2 outs, Mark McLemore singled and then Jeff Cirillo singled and then Dan Wilson singled which scored Mac and we take a 1-0 lead!

Sadly enough, the game doesn't end right there, so bottom of the fifth and New York ties it, pinstriped bastards that they are, so I'll be moving right along to the sixth inning where Randy singled and then got caught stealing and meanwhile I am heading home about this time and New York takes the lead 2-1 in their half which is complete bullshit if you ask me.

Seventh inning.  Nothing I care to mention.  Eighth inning.  Ichiro singled with 2 outs.  I think I'll pee myself.  Then Ichiro got caught stealing.  I think I'll give the TV the finger.  Then the Yankees drag the bottom half out for a really long time but don't score anybody, and unfortunately, neither do we in the top of the ninth and we lose the game and the series and I'm just all kinds of pissed off about it, because everybody, even George Steinbrenner himself, deep down in the teeny, tiny, darkest part of his grinchy, greedy, rotten little heart, knows the Yankees don't deserve any kind of success over us WHATSOEVER.

PS - Mediocre teams have won World Series.  Mediocre teams have NEVER won 116 games.  Yes, I'm still bitter.
