"On the freeway that runs just beyond the right-field pavilion at Edison Field, commuters were driving faster than Jamie Moyer was throwing pitches Friday.  Legally."  - Larry LaRue, sportswriter

So first of all, I have to admit that I slept through most of this game because I seem to have caught the flu, and I know what you're thinking, but it is NOT a hangover from yesterday's game because even though I will admit to having a screaming headache when Brutus woke me up around midnight knocking crap off my desk, I was TOTALLY fine when I got up for work and I didn't start feeling crappy until midway through the day, so there.  So anyhow, this brilliant game began with us sitting down in order which wasn't at all exciting and then with 1 out, Jamie hit Erstad with a pitch, but Tim Salmon hit into a double play to end the inning so off to the second we go with no score.

So then Edgar ripped a big nasty double in a big shoutout to Tony A's friend Jay, and John Olerud walked and they both moved up a base on a passed ball, and then Mark McLemore hit a sac fly to score Edgar and then Mike Cameron doubled and that scored John and Carlos grounded Cam to third and then Dan Wilson walked but we settle for the 2 runs and head to the bottom half where Wooten singled with 2 outs but then promptly got caught stealing.  Boss!

So third inning and we do nothing and with 1 out, Bengie Molina walked and then Benji Gil singled and how weird that there all these Benji's and an out later and Darin Erstad walked to load the bases but then Jamie K'd Tim Salmon so nobody cared except the Anaheim Angels who were probably a little bit sad.

The Mariners were criticized in some circles for agreeing to a three-year contract for Jamie Moyer over the winter.  Why give a 40-year-old pitcher a deal like that, worth $15.5 million?  Wasn't Moyer ready to start drawing his pension, anyway?  Why not ask Tim SalmonMoyer's strikeout of Salmon in the third inning of last night's 8-2 victory over Anaheim tells you all you have to know about the left-hander." - sportswriter John Hickey

"There must have been a hole in my bat. He's just slow enough to get you out in front.  I had two or three that were just a couple inches foul. And then he throws me that backdoor cutter. I was ready for it. I was right on it. It was like, 'How did I miss that?'" - Tim Salmon

Fourth inning and we do nothing and Anaheim wastes Troy Glaus's single so let's just move along to the fifth where with 1 out, Dan doubled and then an out later and Randy Winn walked and then Bret "I'm Goin' Yard!" Boone WENT YARD and it is 5-0 Seattle as we head to the bottom half where the Angels waste 2 singles.

Sixth inning and we're down 1-2-3, and then Anaheim wastes Troy Glaus's single again and that's all very cool considering that I don't want Anaheim to score, but I have Troy Glaus on my Fantasy Baseball team, and then I wake up about this time because Brutus sat on my neck.

Seventh inning and I tune in just in time to see us sit down in order, but then Anaheim wastes Brad Fullmer's lead off single, so let's just move along to the eighth where Bret singled with 1 out and then scored an out later off of Ole's double and then Scott Schoeneweis relieved Ramon Ortiz and we settle for the 1 run and head to the bottom half now leading 6-0 and for defending World Champions, the Angels stadium is rather empty and anyway, Arthur relieved Jamie and Erstad reached on an infield single and then Salmon singled and Artie is pitching very un-Artie like and Garrett Anderson grounded into a fielder's choice and Jeff Nelson relieved Artie and K'd Glaus, but then Wooten singled to score Erstad and the name "Wooten" cracks me up for some reason, and then Fullmer reached on an infield single which scored Anderson before Molina flew out to end the inning, and off we go to the ninth, leading 6-2.

So Mike Cameron leads off with a double and then Carlos Guillen doubled to score him and then Dan Wilson grounded into a fielder's choice and Carlos, instead of staying on second, was possessed of demons and got tagged out running to third, and then Ichiro grounded out to second and instead of the second baseman tagging out Dan on his way by, Dan TOTALLY RAN OUT OF THE BASELINE and they threw to first to get Ichiro, and then threw back to second to try and double off Dan even though he'd already ran out of the baseline and was technically OUT anyway, and Dan slides into second and I think he might have been tagged on the arm, but I'm not sure and the second base umpire somehow missed Dan running out of the baseline and called him safe and that got Angel's manager Mike Scioscia out to argue but the ump isn't budging and I am meanwhile cracking up because Dan is standing there all nonchalant listening to them argue and then Randy Winn walked and Ben Weber relieved Schoeneweis and Bret singled which scored Dan and then Edgar walked and then Willie Bloomquist came in to run for Gar, but we don't score any more and head to the bottom half leading 8-2.

So Shiggy relieved Nellie and Scott Spiezio, hitting for Benji Gil, reached on an infield single and then David Eckstein singled but a double play and pop up later, and we have won it for Jamie's 100th career win as a Seattle Mariner.

"I don't think winning 100 games with Seattle is that big a thing.  It's nice to win a game... period. It's nice to beat the world champions, nice to keep the momentum going for us."  - the ever-modest Mr. Moyer
